The Academy was well represented by members of the Wisconsin Parents Club and one of our Midshipmen. The event was held at the EAA in Oshkosh. Turnout was good and we had alot of interest in the academy. See the Photo section under Academy Day 09

Box 1082, 4th Company
300 Steamboat Rd
Kings Point, NY 11024-1634
Indoctrination was intense, but rewarding! I could not have asked for better
Drill Instructors, Company Commanders, Battalion Commanders, Company or
roommate. I am in Fourth Company - Platoon 402! Today the winner of Honor
Platoon, Drill Company, Honor Company, and Iron Company were
announced.....402 recieved Honor Platoon, 4th Company won Drill Co, Honor Co
AND Iron Co!!! Josh Just is also in 4th Company - Platoon 401! Almost a
week ago today the two platoons merged to form our company. Josh Just and I
now live on Main Deck of Jones Hall, a few doors down from each other. We
have also been able to keep tabs on Kopras and Riedel. Both seem to be
doing great as well! The academic year started last Wednesday, and already
I have found myself hiding in the Library with my books and coffee. The Kings Point nights are gorgeous!!! The air is warm, water is calm, and
the lights from NY CITY are spectacular! I am honored to be here - thank
you for all your help!
Very respectfully,
Plebe Candidate Simons

With permission from the students they have submitted the following for us to know.
Tim McDonald 2010.
First Sailing Period
Just got back to the academy after sailing aboard the M/V Patriot for 108 days for my
first sailing period. Visited the ports of New York, Baltimore, Charleston, and Brunswick along the USEC and then crossed the winter North Atlantic for about 10-11 days until we arrived in Bremerhaven, Germany. Next ports of calls in Europe included Antwerp and Zeebrugge, Belgium and Southampton, England. Delivered cars, tractors, and other
large equipment to Europe as well as bringing back imports such as BMW’s , Jaguars, Range Rovers, and Mini Coopers. Now I’m back at the academy for the spring trimester to finish up my 3/C year and then enjoy a short break for summer before coming back to KP for my 2/C year and another season of football before heading back out to sea for 8 months.
M/N Timothy McDonald 3/C
4/C Cheyanne Loppnow 2011:
Hello,
Currently I am playing softball. We are about to begin our season on 24 March 2008. The team just got back from Florida over spring break where we competed against some very good teams.
We only ended up winning 2 but we played together very well.
Additionally, I am still very involved in the making of the yearbook. I am part of the Christian Fellowship Club as well as Honor Guard.
Very Respectfully,
Plebe Cheyanne Loppnow

Activities: Classes, homework, repeat.
In all seriousness though, besides my extremely busy schedule and lack of free periods I don’t have much going on as far as regulated activities go. Airsoft, Paintball, KPSA, EMT, and Band for regulated activities. No sports. For important days… EMT test on May 15th to be NY certified.
Very Respectfully,

Subject: USMMA Alum's Hell Week Success
Ladies and Gentlemen,
For those of you who are not aware Basic Under -water Demolition School / Seals (BUD/s) Class 270 Has just finished Hell Week, what is known to be the most challenging portion of BUD/s. This include 5.5 days of intense physical training with less than 5 hours of sleep. Class 270 entered Indoctrination With approximately 250 SEAL Candidates, when they began Phase of BUD/s they had 190 Candidate. Going into Hell Week there were 84 candidates and when Hell Week was finally secured on Friday only 36 remained. Of these 36 was ENS Tyler Marshburn, USN a USMMA 2007 graduate. As further testament to his success, ENS Marshburn was ranked number 2 by peer evaluations. If any of you are interested in calling ENS Marshburn and congratulating him ,and find out about what Hell Week is really like you can reach him at 330-917-7317. Our Region SEAL Recruiting District Assistance Council (RDAC), lead By CAPT Bisset, USN who trained Marshburn prior to BUD/s, also had 2 other members in class 270 one dropped on request during Hell Week and the Other who was the class Leading Petty Officer was injured and rolled to class 272.
Very Respectfully,
Midshipman David Schwartz 4/c

Hello everyone,
Hope everyone is settled down after the spring break.
I am trying to get a head start on pulling together the information we will need to submit for the Distinguished Chapter Award.
I am hoping that anyone who was able to get information regarding the academy or their midshipmen in the media, will be able to send copies with name of paper and dates. I am hoping to have it pulled mostly together as it is due at the end of June, ( would like to have it sent off before our midshipmen come home)
Also if everyone can send some updates, I would like to pull together another newsletter.
I have sent an email to the prospective candidates to inform us if they have a awards presentation for their high school and if we could assist in the presentation with either a parent association or a field representative ( good PR)
Will also need to decide if we want to host a candidate get together as we did last summer, first day of Induc is July 10, and the weekend before is the 4th of July, perhaps June 28 or 29th, anyone interested in hosting?
Let us know,
Thanks
